This work emanated from my second solo exhibition in 2000. When my daughters were young I would spend hours watching them learn to swim. These images arise partly from witnessing their forays into dolphin behavior.
I love the way water and figure merge, and the water contorts the figurative element. These images hold a pictorial spatial ambiguity of depth and flatness, which, in addition, allowed my penchant for mark making to come into play.
